Al-Sharaa: Trump's plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza is "major crime"
Syria's transitional president, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, stated that US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza and take control of the strip is a "major crime," adding that he believes this plan "will not succeed."
In an interview on a British podcast The Rest is Politics, Sharaa emphasized that attempts to displace Palestinians from their land have failed throughout history, asserting that this proposal will meet the same fate.
He added, "There is no force that can compel the people of a land to leave it. Even during the recent war on Gaza, Palestinians endured suffering and destruction but did not abandon their land."
Sharaa pointed out that Palestinians have learned from their experiences over the decades, saying, "Those who left their land regretted it. Palestinian generations know well that holding onto the land is the only option."
He considered it "unwise and unethical for Trump to lead efforts to expel Palestinians from their land," stressing that this plan is a "major crime" that will not succeed.
Trump had proposed that the US would administer the Gaza Strip after evacuating Palestinians from it, stating that the strip would be economically developed after its clearance.
