Trump’s 2025 inauguration day schedule: Key events, timings revealed
President-elect Donald Trump is poised to be inaugurated on Monday, marking the commencement of his second term in the White House.
The event signifies the formal transfer of presidential power from the Biden administration to Trump’s, following the 20th Amendment, which mandates that a president’s four-year term concludes at noon on January 20, followed by the president-elect's swearing-in shortly thereafter.
The inaugural festivities, organized by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies and led by Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, will feature a series of eight key events throughout Inauguration Day. These include:
- The procession to the Capitol
- The swearing-in ceremony for the vice president
- Trump’s own swearing-in
- His inaugural address
- The ceremonial farewell of the outgoing president and vice president
- The new president will participate in a signing ceremony for nominations and executive orders
- An inaugural luncheon
- A military review
- A presidential parade, that will now take place at Capital One Arena due to expected cold weather
This year’s theme is "Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise," reflecting a commitment to democratic values.
The inauguration ceremony is set to commence at approximately 7:30 P.M. (GMT+3), leading up to Trump’s swearing-in around 8:00 P.M. (GMT+3).
Originally planned for the West Front of the US Capitol, the ceremony will be relocated to the Capitol Rotunda to accommodate the chilly temperatures anticipated in Washington.
While there is no specific duration for the event, previous inaugurations, including Trump’s first in 2017 and Joe Biden’s in 2021, each lasted about an hour.
