He also highlighted that supplying the Ma’an Industrial Estate with natural gas will significantly reduce production costs, boosting economic activities in the region.
Additionally, the Ministry of Environment is working to rehabilitate 7,500 dunums of land in Petra and Shobak. Momani announced that the government has decided to exempt commercial establishments within the Petra Region Authority from professional license fees for 2025.
An export fee of JD 35 per ton will be imposed on waste cardboard and paper listed under customs items for one year, aimed at supporting the industrial sector and ensuring the availability of raw materials for local paper and cardboard factories.
In a separate announcement, Momani confirmed that the government has approved an amendment protocol to the agreement on avoiding double taxation and tax evasion between Jordan and Kuwait.
These measures are part of the government’s broader strategy to drive sustainable development in the southern region.
