Brazil’s federal court ordered the federal police to investigate an “Israeli” soldier for war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.

The soldier was on Brazilian soil, and fled shortly after an arrest warrant was issued for him, according to a statement by the “Israeli” Foreign Ministry.

Belgium-based Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) filed a complaint against the soldier, after which judge Raquel Soares Charelli ordered the investigation on December 30, 2024 – according to Brazilian news outlet Metrópoles

The Hind Rajab Foundation works internationally to report crimes against humanity, war crimes, and human rights violations committed in Palestine and the Occupied territories.

The crimes which the “Israeli” soldier stands accused for is demolishing a residential block in Gaza with explosives outside of a combat situation.

It took place in November 2024, and the houses in the block were used to shelter internally displaced Palestinian families from the “Israeli” aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The soldier posted his crimes on social media at the time.

“Israeli” Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar ordered the embassy in Brazil to contact the soldier and his family who “accompanied him throughout the event until his swift and safe departure from Brazil.”

“The Foreign Ministry draws the attention of Israelis to posts on social media about their military service, and to the fact that anti-Israeli elements may exploit these posts to initiate futile legal proceedings against them,” the “Israeli” Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
