Hamas issues statement on ceasefire negotiations
Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that indirect negotiations are set to resume today, Friday, in Doha.
Hamas emphasized its seriousness and commitment to reaching an agreement as soon as possible—one that meets the aspirations and goals of the Palestinian people, particularly ending aggression and protecting civilians amid ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing.
The movement stated that this round of talks will focus on achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of 'Israeli' forces from Gaza, and outlining the implementation details.
Hamas also stressed the importance of disregarding unverified reports and leaks intended to create confusion and increase pressure during the negotiations.
White House comments
Additionally, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby claimed that Hamas started this war and has the ability to end it by signing a new agreement.
Kirby claimed that Tel Aviv has significantly weakened Hamas’ military capabilities, but the group still poses a real threat.
He added that Hamas now has a genuine opportunity to sign a new agreement to secure the release of captives and achieve a ceasefire.
