Syria FM says discussed regional stability with Egypt counterpart

Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad al-Shibani said he spoke with his Egyptian counterpart on Tuesday in the first reported contact between the two countries since the opposition seized power in Damascus.

Shibani posted on X that he was "pleased with the call" during which Badr Abdelatty "stressed the importance of the role of the two countries in achieving stability and prosperity for the region, and that Egypt and Syria share a common history and a promising future".
