On Monday, the Kremlin dismissed Turkish media claims that Asma Al-Assad, the British-born wife of former Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad, intended to file for divorce and depart from Russia, Reuters reported.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also refuted assertions from Turkish media alleging that Assad had been restricted to Moscow and had her property assets frozen. During a conference call, when asked about the accuracy of these reports, Peskov stated, "No they do not correspond to reality."
Reports from Turkish and Arabic media over the weekend indicated that Asma Al-Assad had initiated divorce proceedings in Russia, where the Assad family was granted asylum earlier this month following a rapid advance by rebels that led to their control of Damascus.
