Customs department begins phased release of containers for Syria
The Customs Department started releasing containers bound for Syria in phases, beginning with the first phase which includes 50 containers for the Jaber border area, as reported by a Roya correspondent.
According to the General Customs Department, Customs Yard No. 4 currently holds 450 containers of goods intended for the Syrian side, which will be released gradually. As the Customs Director stated, preparations are also underway to receive goods for Ramadan destined for the local market, Syria, and neighboring markets.
Nayef Al-Fayez, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), inspected the operations at the customs yard. He emphasized the need to facilitate the flow of goods in partnership with all port and customs authorities, aiming to eliminate obstacles and restore normal logistics and economic activity in Syria.
This includes easing the transit of containers through various customs points for markets in neighboring countries, particularly Syria, Iraq, and Palestine, which depend on the Port of Aqaba for their goods.
