The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecasts a gradual decline in temperatures over the coming days, signaling a return to seasonal averages after an unseasonably warm period.

According to atmospheric models and simulations, the kingdom will be affected by a relatively cold air mass. This will bring cool autumnal weather during the day and notably cold conditions at night, with frost likely to form in mountainous and desert areas during the late-night hours.

Thursday forecast

Temperatures will drop slightly, resulting in relatively cool weather across most regions, while conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will remain mild.

Partly cloudy skies are expected, with medium- to high-altitude clouds and a slight chance of light rain in the far north during the night. Winds will be northwesterly, moderate to occasionally brisk.

Friday forecast

A further temperature decrease is anticipated, with relatively cool daytime conditions and partly cloudy skies. Light rain showers may occur in the morning across northern and central regions.

At night, temperatures will fall sharply, with a slight chance of light rain over southwestern areas.

Saturday and Sunday forecast

Cool daytime weather and cold nights will persist through the weekend. Frost formation is likely in high-altitude mountainous areas, especially in the south, and in desert regions during late-night hours.

Low-altitude clouds are expected on Saturday, while high-altitude clouds will dominate on Sunday. Winds will be easterly and moderate.

Weather Warnings

  • Reduced Visibility: Fog is expected during the early morning and late-night hours, especially over mountainous areas and parts of the plains.
  • Frost Formation: Frost may form in high-altitude areas and deserts at night, posing a risk to crops and livestock.

The JMD urges the public to stay updated with weather bulletins and take necessary precautions to safeguard agriculture, livestock, and personal health during the cold spell.
