Public security releases new details regarding Amman attack

A security source revealed that the individual who fired at security personnel in the Rabieh area early this morning is wanted and has a criminal history, including multiple charges, most notably related to drugs.

The source confirmed that the person’s criminal record includes drug possession and abuse, driving under the influence of drugs, property damage, and violations of firearms and ammunition laws.

It was noted that the attacker directly opened fire on a security patrol at the scene, intending to kill the officers with an automatic weapon he was concealing, along with several incendiary devices.

Security personnel responded with appropriate defensive measures, adhering to engagement protocols to handle the assault on their lives and the safety of residents.

The injured officers were quickly transported to receive treatment and are now in stable condition, with moderate injuries.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
