Destruction in Lebanon
UNICEF: Over 200 children killed in Lebanon amid escalating aggression
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced on Tuesday that more than 200 children have been killed in Lebanon over the past two months during heightened aggression by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). This tragic figure equates to an average of more than three children per day.
James Elder, UNICEF spokesperson, highlighted the alarming death toll in a press statement:
"Despite the significant number of children losing their lives in such a short period, there is a troubling indifference from those with the power to halt this escalation."
Elder stressed the need to prevent history from repeating itself, saying that the world "must collectively ensure that humanity never again witnesses massacres like those in Gaza. What is unacceptable should never be normalized."
UNICEF has called for immediate action to halt violence against children and to guarantee their protection during times of conflict.
