Elite 'Israeli' unit faces heavy losses in Qassam ambush
A senior officer and five soldiers from the elite "Lotar" unit of the 'Israeli' military were killed in an ambush by Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades in Jabalia, Gaza, according to reports by the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
The incident reportedly occurred while the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) were setting up a trap to capture Palestinian resistance fighters.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Sunday that one of their snipers had successfully targeted and injured an 'Israeli' soldier in the Al-Khuzandar area, northwest of Gaza City. Additionally, Al-Qassam claimed responsibility for hitting two 'Israeli' Merkava tanks and a D9 bulldozer with Yassin 105 anti-tank missiles near Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The group also reported attacking two more D9 bulldozers with tandem rockets in the same area.
This comes amid ongoing hostilities between IOF and Palestinian resistance fighters, with significant casualties reported on both sides since the aggression began. The 'Israeli' military has acknowledged heavy losses among its officers and personnel in the ongoing battles.
