Prime Minister orders withdrawal of legal complaint against Al-Mamlaka TV
Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan has directed the Media Commission to withdraw its legal complaint against the independent public broadcaster, Al-Mamlaka TV.
Following the Prime Minister's instructions, the Media Commission has formally requested the Amman Magistrate Court to drop the criminal case against the channel and its employees.
The complaint was initially filed six months ago after Al-Mamlaka TV reported an unconfirmed news story about a state of emergency being declared across Jordan during Iranian missile attack on 'Israeli' territory. The Media Commission deemed the report as a legal violation, following a government spokesperson's denial of the news.
At the time, then-Government Communications Minister Muhannad Mubaidin emphasized the need for accuracy in media reporting, warning of legal actions against the spread of misinformation or unverified claims.
