Authorities launch annual winter vehicle safety campaign

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) officially kicked off its annual winter safety campaign to inspect vehicles across Jordan. The campaign aims to reduce traffic accidents during the harsh winter season. 

Starting this Saturday, PSD teams will be stationed on main roads throughout the Kingdom, working alongside the Royal Department for Environment Protection and technical experts from the Maintenance Department. The teams will inspect vehicles for essential safety features, such as tire conditions, brakes, and lighting.

Vehicles that pass the inspection will have a sticker placed on the windshield indicating their suitability for winter driving.

For vehicles requiring repairs, owners will be given a one-week grace period to fix any identified issues to meet the necessary safety standards. The PSD clarified that no fines will be issued initially for these notices, but non-compliance could lead to future penalties.

The PSD encourages all drivers to cooperate with inspection teams and adhere to maintenance guidelines to help ensure the safety of everyone on the roads this winter. They emphasize that regular maintenance is essential for preventing accidents and keeping roads safe for all travelers.
