Russian man charged with premeditated murder for stabbing wife 40 times

A Russian man has been charged with premeditated murder after stabbing his wife over 40 times in their home in the Marj Al-Hamam area, south of Amman.

The gruesome crime, which occurred on Tuesday, was reportedly triggered by marital disputes over the wife's refusal to return to Russia, while the husband insisted on going back, according to a source close to the investigation.

The source told Roya that the husband, fluent in Arabic like his wife due to their long-term residence in Jordan, confessed to stabbing her after an argument.

During the interrogation, he admitted to grabbing a kitchen knife and attacking her before turning himself in to the police.

The public prosecutor ordered the suspect's detention for 15 days, renewable, at a correctional and rehabilitation center following his interrogation.

An autopsy by a forensic medical committee from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine revealed over 40 deep and defensive stab wounds across the body, which caused severe bleeding leading to the woman's death.
