Armed forces foil drug smuggling drones in southern Jordan
The Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) announced on Monday morning that the Southern Military Region had successfully intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt using two drones along its western border.
A spokesperson from JAF's General Command explained that border guards, in coordination with military security and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to stop the drones as they attempted to cross the border illegally.
After applying the rules of engagement, the drones were shot down, and their cargo was secured within Jordanian territory. The seized items were handed over to the proper authorities.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the army’s commitment to using all available resources to prevent drugs from reaching Jordan’s citizens and threatening national security.
