The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said today that Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster, aged 22, a squad commander in the “Egoz” unit, was killed today during combat in Lebanon.

This marks the first –announced– “Israeli” combat fatality recorded in Lebanon, after the IOF announced the start of a “limited and targeted” ground invasion operation of south Lebanon.

He was killed during a battle with Hezbollah fighters in a village in southern Lebanon.

Earlier today, an “Israeli” unit infiltrated the Al-Adaysseh area early Wednesday morning, falling into an ambush set by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan unit.

The Radwan forces engaged the “Israeli” troops in close-quarter combat, forcing them to retreat while carrying their wounded – according to media reports.

Hezbollah "is engaged in clashes with the Israeli enemy's soldiers who infiltrated the village of Maroun al-Ras from the east", a statement by Hezbollah said.

“Israeli” helicopters from the 669 rescue unit evacuated numerous wounded personnel from the border area with Lebanon, according to Hebrew media, which described the situation as a "severe incident" on the border.

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) also said in a statement that “Israeli” soldiers made a “brief incursion” into the south.
