Over 10,800 arrests in West Bank since October 7

Since the onset of the ongoing aggression in Palestine's Gaza, a staggering total of 10,800 arrests have been reported in the West Bank and Jerusalem, excluding cases from Gaza.

Breakdown of Arrests:

• Women: A total of 410 women have been detained, including those from the 1948 occupied territories and Gazan women arrested in the West Bank.
• Children: 735 children have been arrested.
• Journalists: 108 journalists have been detained, with 59 still in custody. This includes 7 women journalists and 22 from Gaza, as well as 14 under administrative detention.

Administrative Detention:

Since October 7, more than 8,872 administrative detention orders have been issued, encompassing both new orders and renewals, affecting children and women among others.

Violations and Conditions:

The detention campaigns are accompanied by severe violations, including humiliation, physical abuse, threats against detainees and their families, vandalism of homes, and confiscation of vehicles, money, and personal belongings. Significant destruction has occurred in infrastructure, particularly in the refugee camps of Tulkarem and Jenin.

Arrests have taken place at homes, checkpoints, during voluntary surrenders, and as hostages. Additionally, Israeli Occupation Forces have reportedly executed field operations against detainees and their families.

Casualties:

Since October 7, 24 detainees have died in Israeli Occupation prisons and military camps. Numerous martyrs from Gaza have also perished while in detention, with their identities and circumstances of death often undisclosed. Notably, 22 remains of detainees killed post-October 7 are still being withheld, among a total of 33 martyrs.

Current Detention Figures:

As of September 2024, the total number of detainees held in 'Israeli' prisons stands at 9,900, including 3,323 administrative detainees and 1,612 classified as illegal fighters.

• Female Detainees: 94 women are held in Damoun prison, including a pregnant detainee and three from Gaza.
• Children: 250 children are currently in isolation prisons.

Historical Context:

Before October 7, the total number of detainees was 5,250, comprising 40 women, 170 children, and 1,320 administrative detainees.
