Royal Decree appoints Alaa Batayneh as director of King’s Office
A Royal Decree appointed His Excellency Engineer Alaa Arif Batayneh as Director of His Majesty the King’s Office, effective Sept. 15, 2024.
Born in Amman in 1969, Batayneh earned his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Management Information Systems from George Washington University.
After gaining experience in the US and the UK, he returned to Jordan, where he managed a consulting firm.
His public service includes roles as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport (2000-2005), Director-General of Jordan Customs (2005-2007), Minister of Transport (2007-2012), and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (2012).
Mr. Batayneh was honored with the Order of Independence, First Class, in 2006 and the Grand Cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau the same year.
He married Princess Rahma bint Hassan in July 1997, and they have two children.
