“Israeli” army says deeply regrets killing American peace activist in West Bank

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said it expresses its “deeply regrets” the death of an American peace activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, 26 years old, in the West Bank, after being shot in the West Bank on September 6th.

The IOF, in an initial probe, claimed that Eygi was likely killed “by indirect and unintended fire, which was aimed at a main instigator” during what it said was a “riot”

“The incident occurred during a violent gathering of dozens of Palestinian suspects, who burned tires and threw stones at forces at Beita Junction,” the statement said.

Eygi, who also holds a Turkish citizenship, was an activist with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a movement “committed to resisting the long-entrenched and systematic oppression and dispossession of the Palestinian population, using non-violent, direct-action methods and principles,” according to its website.
