The Highway Patrol Department dealt with a series of road violations, most notably apprehending the driver of a public transportation vehicle, a "Coaster bus," on the Ma'an-Zarqa road for smoking a hookah while driving and carrying passengers over the limit (9 passengers).

The patrol on site took the necessary legal actions against the driver, according to the daily road status report published by the department.

A representative of the Highway Patrol Department said that since early Sunday morning, patrols have been distributed across all major roads, especially those connecting the governorates, to remove any obstacles and maintain smooth traffic flow with the start of the official workweek due to increased activity on these roads on Sundays.

Several other incidents were dealt with, including a broken-down cargo vehicle on Independence Street beneath the pedestrian bridge in front of Independence Mall, heading toward Al-Zaher Bridge, and a broken-down vehicle on the Palace Bridge for traffic coming from the Interior Roundabout toward Al-Murabit. Necessary actions were taken, and the vehicles were removed from the main road.

Drivers are urged to adhere to safe driving rules, check their vehicle's condition regularly, inspect coolant and oil levels, and check tire pressure before heading to their destinations to avoid breakdowns, especially given the current high temperatures in Jordan.

Officials also urged drivers to follow traffic rules and priorities, avoid dangerous violations such as tailgating and distractions like using mobile phones, to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain their safety and the safety of road users.

They also encouraged drivers not to hesitate to call the unified emergency number 911 if needed, assuring full readiness to provide assistance around the clock.
