Israeli Occupation Knesset rejects Palestinian state

The Israeli Occupation Knesset approved a resolution rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. This decision follows a previous resolution in February, where the Knesset rejected unilateral international recognitions of a Palestinian state.

The Knesset's general assembly passed the resolution, strongly opposing the creation of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River. The assembly stated that establishing a Palestinian state in the heart of what it calls "Israel" would pose an existential threat to the State of Israel and its citizens and perpetuate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, destabilizing the region.

The resolution was introduced by Knesset member Ze'ev Elkin of the "National Right" bloc and received support from both the opposition and the coalition, including parties such as "National Right," Likud, "National Camp," Shas, United Torah Judaism, Otzma Yehudit, Yisrael Beiteinu, and Religious Zionism.

Gideon Sa'ar, leader of the "National Right" party, stated that the decision aimed to reflect the widespread opposition among the Israeli public to a Palestinian state, which he claimed would endanger Israel's security and future. He emphasized that the resolution sent a message to the international community that international pressure to impose a Palestinian state on Israel would be ineffective.
