UNRWA estimates 15 years to clear Gaza's 40 million-ton debris

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) projected that it would take 15 years to clear approximately 40 million tons of war debris from Gaza, based on data from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

UNRWA detailed that such an extensive debris clearance operation will require over 100 trucks and an estimated budget exceeding USD 500 million. 

The agency emphasized that the debris poses a significant danger to the residents of Gaza due to the potential presence of unexploded ordnance and harmful substances, describing the situation as a "deadly threat."
