"Relations between our countries are entering a new and great phase of prosperity, incomparable even to the stage of Soviet-Korean relations in the last century," Kim stated, according to translated remarks reported by Russian news agencies.

Putin arrived in Pyongyang early Wednesday morning, marking his first visit to North Korea in 24 years. The two leaders attended a major ceremony in Pyongyang's main square before the commencement of their summit.

"The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea appreciates the important role and mission that a strong Russia plays in maintaining stability and balance in the world." He affirmed his "full support" for the military operation that Russia launched in Ukraine in February 2022.

Additionally, Kim pledged that North Korea "will work to strengthen its strategic communications with Russia and the Russian authorities."

President Putin, in turn, announced the completion of a "new founding document" for the relations between Moscow and Pyongyang.

"Today, a founding document that will lay the foundation for our long-term relations is ready," Putin said, as reported by Russian news agencies. He extended an invitation to Kim to visit Moscow and confirmed that significant progress had been made in enhancing bilateral ties.
