In a recent development, a Hamas leader announced that the movement is seeking amendments to the proposed ceasefire put forward by the US.

Speaking to Reuters on Thursday, the Hamas leader stated that the requested changes are "not significant."

Stressing that these demands are interconnected, he outlined three stages that Hamas sees as essential for a ceasefire agreement.

One key point of contention is Hamas' insistence on excluding the "Israeli" list of 100 Palestinian prisoners with high sentences, which Hamas itself defines.

"We insisted on excluding the Israeli list of 100 prisoners from the Palestinian prisoners, with high sentences, which it defines, and limiting the remaining time for the release of those with high sentences to not exceed 15 years," the leader stated.

The movement's demands for the ceasefire also include a complete withdrawal of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) from the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Hamas is demanding the reconstruction of Gaza and the lifting of the blockade, which includes opening border crossings and allowing unrestricted movement of people and goods.
