Palestine President calls for emergency session of UN Security Council

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas directed Saturday Palestine's representative to the United Nations to request an emergency session of the UN Security Council – aiming to discuss the repercussions of the massacre carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Nuseirat camp in Gaza, which killed 210 and wounded over 400 so far,

According to the Palestine News Agency (WAFA), President Abbas is in intensive contact with relevant Arab and international parties to convene this emergency Security Council session. The purpose is to highlight the Council's role in halting the continuous “Israeli” aggression against the Palestinian people and to compel the occupying state to adhere to international resolutions, which call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Abbas emphasized that the international community must urgently intervene to stop the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He noted that the Israeli occupation exploits international silence and U.S. support to continue its crimes, which violate all international legitimacy resolutions and international law – according to WAFA.
