Government raises unified price of wheat flour

The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply has raised the unified selling price of wheat flour produced by private sector mills and the Al-Juwaideh Mill by JOD 3.661 per ton, bringing the new price to JOD 169.695.

The selling price of wheat to mills has also been raised by approximately JOD 2.585 per ton, setting the new price at JOD 136.200.

This decision mandates mills to supply bakeries with all their flour needs, provided they review their allocations with the Inventory Management Directorate. Failure to comply will result in the wheat price being set according to the second item of the ministry's decision, at JOD 251.363 per ton for quantities of wheat withdrawn and milled beyond the specified allocation for the mill or any unauthorized sales by the Inventory Management Directorate.

Effective from June 1st, the decision aligns with the Cabinet’s policy on the liberalization of flour prices and bread pricing, which includes a JOD 10 reduction in the unified price of flour, with provisions for adjusting the price based on changes in fuel prices or other variables.

The decision also sets the extraction rate for unified flour at 78 percent and for bran at 22 percent, with extraction rates for other types of flour determined according to standard specifications.
