Authorities warn citizens

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) stressed today the importance of following a set of advice and guidelines to avoid heat strokes and any incidents of heat exhaustion

The PSD called on citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight to prevent the risk of heatstroke and heat exhaustion, especially in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of increasing fluid intake, especially water, wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, not leaving sanitizers inside vehicles during high temperatures due to their flammable contents, refraining from leaving children alone in vehicles during errands, and not allowing them to play under direct sunlight for extended periods.

They also advised wearing protective head coverings, hats, and taking breaks, especially for individuals whose work requires prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Additionally, they warned against igniting fires in grassy areas, especially in forested regions, and staying away from dense grassy areas that are habitats for reptiles such as scorpions and snakes. They also cautioned against overloading electrical circuits by running air conditioners, fans, and other appliances on a single power source.
