UK calls for Gaza ceasefire

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has urged for an immediate "humanitarian pause" in the conflict to facilitate the release of captives and enable the delivery of additional aid to Gaza.

The current situation in Gaza is untenable, and we must act urgently to prevent famine," Sunak emphasized, urging all parties to engage in ongoing negotiations to swiftly reach a resolution.

Similarly, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that over a million people in Gaza are at risk of famine and emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent further deterioration.

Guterres highlighted the threat of famine facing Gaza residents and called for concerted efforts to halt the violence and secure the unconditional release of hostages.

He condemned the collective punishment inflicted by Israeli Occupation on Palestinians in Gaza, stressing the urgency of addressing the ongoing aggression.

The Israeli Occupation's aggression against Gaza has persisted for 166 consecutive days, resulting in over 31,923 fatalities and 74,096 injuries since October 7, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health's latest report.
