Blinken to visit Saudi Arabia, Egypt to advance Gaza ceasefire efforts

A spokesperson from the US State Department announced that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt this week to discuss efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and increasing humanitarian aid access to the area.

This visit marks Blinken's sixth tour to the Middle East since the war in Gaza began in October last year.

Blinken emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, stating that the entire population in Gaza is facing severe food insecurity.

He underscored the necessity of prioritizing the protection of civilians and ensuring aid reaches those most in need, stressing the dire humanitarian situation affecting all residents of Gaza.
