The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) claimed the assassination of a senior Hamas official in an airstrike in Rafah on Wednesday, hours after the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that a strike hit one of its food distribution centers in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The IOF, in a statement on Thursday, claimed to have assassinated Mohammed Abu Hasna, who’s responsible for an intelligence operations room.

Abu Hasna was involved in the combat support department in Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and was coordinating various activities of the movement's units - per the IOF’s statement.

The statement came hours after UNRWA announced the martyrdom of at least one of its employees and the injury of 22 others in a “Israeli” strike targeting its aid warehouse.
