The Commission of Detainees Affairs released a detailed report on Sunday, exposing the brutal treatment endured by numerous prisoners at the hands of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) during their arrest, as well as the suppression faced by other prisoners within the confines of the prison.

On October 11, 2023, a heavily armed unit of soldiers stormed the residence of Yusuf Alan (30 years old) in Beit Ur Al-Tahta, near Ramallah. They conducted a thorough search of the premises, destroying its contents, before apprehending Alan and transferring him to Ofer Camp. While in military custody, he endured relentless physical abuse, particularly on his knees, resulting in severe bruises, as reported by the lawyer from the authority who visited Negev Prison.

Alan was subjected to deprivation of food and water under the scorching sun from early morning until 6 pm at Ofer Prison, leading to him fainting, according to the lawyer.

Throughout this ordeal, the soldiers verbally and physically assaulted him. After enduring this treatment for 15 days, Alan was eventually transferred from Ofer to Negev Prison.

It is noteworthy that Alan had been sentenced to six months of administrative detention and had previously served a total of three years in prison under administrative detention.

Another case highlighted in the report is that of Baraa Mufarja (24 years old) from the town of Bayt Liqya near Ramallah. He has been detained since December 13, 2021, and sentenced to 28 months in prison.

Since the commencement of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Mufarja has faced brutal assaults on nine separate occasions. During these incidents, suppression forces attacked Negev prisoners during the morning and evening counts. As a result, Mufarja suffered rib fractures after being forcefully thrown to the ground and stomped on his face by Israeli Occupation soldiers while his hands were restrained behind his back. His medical glasses were shattered, impairing his vision to this day.

Furthermore, Qasim Abu Awad (40 years old) has been subjected to repeated assaults by the Yamas, Doror, and Matsada forces since last October.

These forces would arbitrarily storm the prison sections with police dogs and proceed to assault the inmates without provocation. Abu Awad sustained head injuries, nosebleeds, and severe back pain from the assaults, rendering him unable to sleep or move normally. Abu Awad has been incarcerated since June 6, 2003, and sentenced to 23 years in prison.
