Spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Majed Al-Ansari, criticized the “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments in which he asked Qatar to pressure Hamas to release the captives held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Ansari said that Netanyahu’s comments are an attempt to prolong the aggression against Gaza, adding that the recent ceasefire proposal negotiations over the weekend were “not very promising.”

“We categorically reject the empty accusations made by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding Qatari efforts in reconstruction and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, portraying them as funding Hamas,” Al-Ansari said in a statement on his “X” platform.

Al-Ansari added that Netanyahu’s rhetoric can only be understood in “the context of escaping from the Israeli Prime Minister's personal political challenges.”

“We call on him to focus on the path of negotiations that serves the security of the region and end the ongoing tragedy of the war instead of issuing such statements whenever it suits his narrow political agenda.”
