Ireland's Foreign Minister, Micheal Martin, stated that he hopes to achieve unanimous support from the EU for imposing sanctions on violent and extremist “Israeli” settlers in the West Bank, citing global shock at the extent of "inhumanity" witnessed in Gaza.

"Ireland advocates for sanctions against violent settlers in the West Bank, and we regret the lack of unity and consensus within the Foreign Affairs Council so far," he remarked ahead of the EU foreign ministers' meeting, emphasizing the dire situation faced by ordinary people in Gaza, describing it as a "hell on earth."
