Jordan condemns border attack on US forces, expresses condolences

Jordan condemned the terrorist attack on a border outpost with Syria, resulting in the death of three US soldiers and injuries to others collaborating with Jordan in counterterrorism efforts and border security.

Minister of Government Communications and Spokesperson, Muhannad Mubaideen, conveyed Jordan's condolences to the United States and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

He said that the attack did not occur within Jordanian territory and added that terrorist militias launched strikes at the Al-Tanf US base, which is outside the borders of the Kingdom.

The US military had announced the killing of three of its members in a drone attack on a base in Jordan.

The army pointed out that this is the first time that American military personnel have been killed by hostile fire since the start of the aggression in Gaza.

The US Central Command confirmed in a statement that "on January 28th, three US military personnel were killed, and 25 others were injured in a unidirectional attack (by a drone) targeting a base in northeast Jordan, near the Syrian border."
