PHOTOS - Anti-Narcotics Department arrests 22 drug traffickers, manufacturers
The Anti-Narcotics Department dealt with 11 high-profile cases involving drug traffickers and dealers in various regions of the Kingdom, leading to the arrest of 22 individuals, including two classified as “dangerous” - a statement by the Public Security Department’s (PSD) Spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the most prominent of these cases occurred in the Irbid Governorate. A criminal network engaged in drug distribution and promotion in the governorate was dismantled.
Six members of the network, one of whom is classified as dangerous, were arrested following the monitoring of their criminal activities and gathering of intelligence. The locations were identified, and after raiding them, quantities of drugs prepared for distribution were seized.
In Irbid, a raid was conducted on an apartment used by two individuals to manufacture the Methamphetamine, following information received about them- Both were arrested, and inside the apartment, large quantities of chemicals used in the production process were seized, along with approximately 3.5 kilograms of Methamphetamine.
In the northern Badia, four cases were handled. In the first case, two individuals were arrested in possession of eight kilograms of hashish, 1000 narcotic pills, and quantities of counterfeit currency that they attempted to market to commercial stores.
In the second case, a drug dealer was arrested after resisting arrest and opening fire at the security force. He was found in possession of 35 kilograms of hashish and 1000 narcotic pills.
In the third case, two individuals involved in drug promotion and trafficking were arrested after their location was raided. They were found in possession of seven kilograms of hashish and 4000 narcotic pills.
In the fourth and last case, a drug trafficker was arrested with seven kilograms of hashish.
In Amman, two cases were dealt with. In the first, a drug dealer/importer involved in forging medical prescriptions and official documents was arrested after gathering intelligence. A raid was conducted on the apartment he used for his criminal activities, and inside, half a kilogram of Methamphetamine, 400 forged medical prescriptions, and a collection of forged official documents were seized, in addition to equipment used for forgery.
In the second case, three individuals promoting Methamphetamine in possession of a quarter of a kilogram were arrested.
In Aqaba, a drug trafficker was arrested in possession of 6000 narcotic pills.
In Ma'an, two drug dealers were arrested, and they were found in possession of 5000 pills and three kilograms of hashish.
West of Balqa, an individual using his house to cultivate marijuana seedlings was arrested. Inside the house, large quantities of seedlings and a quantity of dried marijuana were seized.
The spokesperson affirmed that all cases have been referred to the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court.
