France has condemned the  Israeli Occupation's assault on the Jordanian Field Hospital Khan Yunis in southern Gaza on Wednesday with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressing strong disapproval on its official website.

"France strongly condemns the strike which hit the Jordanian field hospital in Khan Younes, Gaza, yesterday and which left several injured. It condemns the targeting of civilian infrastructure, particularly medical infrastructure, protected by international humanitarian law. France expresses its full solidarity with Jordan and calls for all the light to be shed," the statement read.

It added that "France welcomes Jordanian efforts in favor of the civilian populations of Gaza. It directly supports the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza, through financing and the provision of medicines and medical equipment. We are also continuing our close humanitarian cooperation with Jordan in Gaza, as demonstrated by the joint airdrop of 7 tons of humanitarian aid on January 4 and the deployment of a Jordanian medical team on the Dixmude helicopter carrier in Egypt."

Earlier, Jordan condemned the shelling that caused severe damage to the hospital in the city. The Jordanian army held the Israeli Occupation responsible for what it deems a "flagrant breach of international law" in the destruction of the facility. 

The army emphasized that the assault on the Jordanian Field Hospital constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.

The Israeli Occupation military denied deliberately targeting or causing damage to the hospital. Instead, they claimed to have opened fire in response to encountering a "terrorist cell" in close proximity to the medical facility.
