The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Thursday morning that it received a report of an incident approximately 50 nautical miles east of the coast of the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman is conducting an investigation into the incident, urging commercial vessels to exercise maximum caution and vigilance and to report any suspicious activity.

In a related context, the United Nations Security Council, on Wednesday night, adopted a US resolution condemning Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

The US representative in the Security Council mentioned that adopting a resolution against Houthi attacks in the Red Sea would demonstrate unity against violations of the law, noting that the Houthis attempted once again to impact commercial shipping routes with a complex attack.

The representative emphasized that Houthi attacks pose a threat that will even affect the delivery of aid to the Yemeni people.
