Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Soud, revealed that Jordan allocates annually 510 million cubic meters for drinking water in municipalities, 35 million cubic meters for the industrial sector, and 570 million cubic meters for agriculture. He emphasized that the cultivated areas in Jordan are estimated to cover 2.8 million dunums.

Abu Soud added that 65 percent of the water allocated for drinking is directed to irrigated agriculture, and the number of attacks on water networks has reached 90,000 incidents targeting main water pipelines.

The minister further stated that the ministry is actively striving to supply water to 96 percent of Jordan's citizens, with 70 percent of the population having access to sewage networks.

He noted that in Jordan, 11.5 million people consume water at a notably high rate. Additionally, he highlighted the ministry's efforts in boosting pumping capacities in the Disi pipeline, increasing them from 100 to 150 million cubic meters annually.

He affirmed that Jordan has 16 dams and 136 water projects worth more than JD 100 million, indicating Jordan's need for 400 million cubic meters of water to reach the water poverty threshold.
