The Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, in a continuation of its campaign against Iran-linked drug traffickers, conducted airstrikes in Syrian territory on Thursday, targeting warehouses and hideouts of smugglers.

Since late 2023, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) has intensified its campaign against drug traffickers, engaging in intense clashes late December with armed groups on the northern border. Several individuals were apprehended, and sizable quantities of rockets, mines, weapons, and drugs ready for smuggling were seized.

The Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) bombed a suspected residence of a "major" drug dealer in the village of Al-Shuab in the province of Sweida. Another RJAF airstrike targeted warehouses near the village of Al-Ghariyah also in Sweida .

Ryan Marouf, editor of Suwayda 24, a Syrian news website, reported seeing a plume of smoke from the area soon after the strikes - as reported by Reuters.

"The first strike targeted a leading drug dealer linked to Iranian militias and the other raid bombed a farm where drugs are stored," Marouf added.
