US Approves Sale of 14,000 tank rounds to 'Israeli army'
The United States has approved the sale of approximately 13,981 120mm tank rounds to the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in an emergency sale worth $106.5 million, according to the US Department of State in a notification to Congress.
This deal comes amid escalating political tensions regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. The US decision is considered to be under political pressure, with Republicans opposing President Joe Biden's administration's request for new military aid to the Israeli Occupation and Kyiv. Democrats are divided over the use of American weapons in light of ongoing events and the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.
The US Department of State emphasised that there is an emergency situation justifying the immediate sale of these weapons to the occupying government, bypassing the congress in this procedure. The department stated that the agreed-upon weapons will be sourced from the US military stockpile.
Earlier this week, Republicans in the Senate blocked the approval of an emergency aid package totaling $106 billion for Ukraine and the Israeli Occupation due to the absence of immigration-related reforms.
