Environmental health disaster in Gaza Strip: Gaza Municipality

The Municipality of Gaza announced Sunday evening that it will be forced to completely halt waste collection services and sewage station operation services well as reduce the number of functioning water wells and shorten their operational hours due to fuel shortages.

This decision comes amid the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip, with intense bombardments targeting civilians, schools, hospitals and places of worship, as well as disruptions to water, electricity and communication services, along with the blockade on fuel trucks and humanitarian and food aid.

The municipality urged Palestinians in the Strip to dispose of waste at the Yarmouk station, the Feras market area, or empty lands and any places that do not hinder traffic or pose a health hazard.

The municipality clarified that water filling points will be provided from some wells that will be operational, with an emphasis on the need to minimize consumption to the minimum.
