The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, called for an immediate, urgent and sustainable humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip.

Borrell reiterated the call for a cessation of hostilities in the Strip during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

He emphasized that the international community must take a stand against the violations of international law by the Israeli Occupation.

He stated that the two-state solution is the optimal solution, and efforts should be made to make it possible.

Borrell highlighted that the European Union is pressuring all parties to enable an agreement for the release of captives.

Borrell affirmed the need to implement the UN Security Council resolution on the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and exert additional efforts to protect the lives of civilians in the Strip.
