Two months before Hamas launched Operation Aqsa Typhoon, the Pentagon greenlit a multi-million-dollar contract for the construction of US troop facilities at a classified base, as reported by The Intercept.

The base is referred to as "Site 512" and is located deep within the 'Negev desert.'

This base serves as a radar facility focused on monitoring the skies for potential missile threats, primarily from Iran, rather than addressing the immediate threat from Gaza, situated only 30 kilometers away.

Despite assurances from US President Joe Biden and the White House that there are no plans to deploy US troops to the Israeli Occupation during the war, evidence suggests the existence of a secret military presence in the region.

The recent USD 35.8 million investment aims to expand the facilities at Site 512, including the construction of what government records term a "life support facility," which translates to barracks-like structures for personnel.

The nature of Site 512 has been often described as a "classified worldwide" project. Budget documents, however, confirm its association with the classified base.

This secrecy is believed to be rooted in diplomatic and political considerations, as any official acknowledgment of US operations staged from the Israeli Occupation might have broader implications in the Middle East.

The recent expansion of facilities at Site 512 underscores the US government's persistent focus on countering 'Iranian threats' in the region. This emphasis on Iran has also been reflected in the response to the war in Gaza, with a significant increase in US military assets deployed to the Middle East.
