Bassam Bounenni announced on X, previously known as Twitter, that he had resigned from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) this morning, citing his professional conscience.

"This morning, I submitted my resignation from the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, as required by my professional conscience," he tweeted.

Bounenni formerly served as a BBC North Africa correspondent.

In an earlier development, the BBC disclosed that it is conducting an investigation into six journalists and a freelancer due to their social media posts related to the Gaza war.

Operation Aqsa Typhoon, launched by Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, continues for the 12th consecutive day in response to Israeli Occupation violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, which have been ongoing for decades.
