A total of 38 suffocation cases have been reported in the Al-Karima area of Jordan's Northern Jordan Valley district.
Preliminary findings suggest that toxic gases from an insecticide used on a nearby farm leaked into the area, affecting nearby residents and a school.
Earlier in the week, five individuals were hospitalized due to exposure to the same insecticide, which was used by a local farmer for soil sterilization. An error in the application process led to the chemical's dispersion beyond the intended area and into the neighboring school.
Sources indicate that authorities are investigating the incident and plan to take necessary administrative and legal actions to ensure public safety in the vicinity.
