The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement Saturday condemning the repeated allowance of an extremist to desecrate copies of the Holy Quran, the latest of which was burning a copy of the Quran in Sweden.

The ministry affirmed Jordan's strong rejection and condemnation of such actions, stressing that this only serves to fuel hatred and violence.

The ministry emphasized the necessity to put an end to the recurrence of these acts and to criminalize them. It also stressed the importance of promoting a culture of peace, acceptance of others, rejecting extremism, and confronting the rise of Islamophobia.

In recent months, there have been several protests in Sweden and Denmark where copies of the Holy Quran were burned. Most Islamic countries have condemned these protests, and some have summoned Swedish and Danish ambassadors to deliver protest notes.
