Official injured as Israeli Occupation Forces attack anti-settlement protest
The head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission Moayad Shaaban was injured after he was physically attacked by Israeli Occupation soldiers in Deir Istiya Salfit, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Shaaban was severely beaten and sustained bruises in the chest and abdomen area, witnesses said.
The official was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
According to local activist Nazem al-Salman, the Israeli Occupation soldiers beat him up and fired tear gas directly at him along with other peaceful demonstrators.
Notably, the peaceful rally is held weekly in protest of the new settlement outpost that Israeli Occupation settlers are attempting to establish on the lands of Deir Istiya.
On June 24, Israeli Occupation settlers protected by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), established a new illegal settlement outpost in the town of Deir Istya.
They reportedly broke into the area, set up two mobile homes and three livestock sheds and extended water and electricity lines to the site.
Notably, all settlements are considered illegal under international law.
