The representative of the clothing sector in the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Asaad Al-Qawasmi said they are optimistic that the clothing market will witness an increase in demand ahead of Eid Al-Adha.

He noted that it also coincides with the payment of salaries in most organizations.

Qawasmi pointed out that previous seasons were better in terms of demand, as the market usually witnesses strong purchasing power prior to the month of Dhul-Hijjah in preparation for the Eid holiday.

He mentioned that the market is currently witnessing weak demand due to citizens and residents prioritizing other necessities such as health, education and food.

Qawasmi called on the local authorities to provide shopowners with the same benefits and conditions that are imposed on online stores.

He stressed that increasing taxes, operating fees, and other obligations are a huge burden on merchants and are causing losses.
