Thursday, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi confirmed that Jordan possesses 'distinguished' infrastructure in the medical sector, adding that the ministry is striving to promote medical tourism in the Kingdom.

During the medical and hospital tourism conference, he said that Jordan has a good reputation in the field of medical tourism, as it is one of the developed countries in the field.

Qaisi explained that Jordan has approximately 3,000 qualified and trained doctors, in addition to 35.6 percent qualified nurses per 10,000 people.

He said that Jordan has 121 hospitals, which provide health services to citizens, residents and those who come seeking medical treatment from neighboring countries.

Health Minister weighs in

The Minister of Health Firas Al-Hawari said that medical tourism is receiving close attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II and that this sector is considered one of the most important sectors in Jordan.

He noted that approximately 111,000 patients received health services in 2020.

He continued saying the same number increased to 152,000 patients in 2021, which is a 37 percent increase, and reached 192,000 in 2022.
